Guiding Stars.
The stars are always overhead, no matter where you go. The constellations might be different, but you can use the patterns to find your way back home.
Murrini and cut glass...
The “Greek key” was laid out with lots of cut strips of glass that was tack fused in a kiln. Then this was brought up to temperature in the glass blowing studio before being pulled out into a really long rod of glass. After pulling, the rod is cut into pieces to reveal the pattern within.
